A brand-new account, zero signal to learn from.
Solar is a considered purchase — homeowners research before they ever request a quote. With a fresh Google Ads account and no conversion history, Google’s algorithm had nothing to optimize against. The job was to earn that data honestly, then turn it into a repeatable, trackable lead pipeline for the sales team.
Collect data first. Optimize second.
Rather than bidding on a target cost-per-acquisition with no history, I launched on Maximize Clicks to gather volume and signal across keywords and audiences. Once enough conversion data existed, I shifted the account to Target CPA — letting Google’s bidding work off real performance instead of guesses. From there, keywords were sorted and pruned by intent and cost, sharpening the account with every cycle.
- Phase 1: Maximize Clicks (data collection)
- Phase 2: Target CPA (learned bidding)
- Keyword sorting by intent & cost
- Continuous refinement each cycle
Every lead, tracked server-side, no gaps.
Conversion tracking was built in Google Tag Manager and mirrored into GA4, with key form and call events fired server-side to protect data quality against ad blockers and browser privacy limits. That clean data is what let Target CPA actually learn — garbage signal in means garbage bidding out. Every qualified lead then flows straight into the client’s CRM, where their agents call to schedule an in-home visit.
- GTM-managed tag deployment
- GA4 conversion event mapping
- Server-side event forwarding
- Direct CRM lead handoff
A trackable pipeline, from click to doorstep.
The account now runs on real conversion data instead of assumptions — 267 conversions tracked cleanly across 513 clicks and 15.2K impressions. Leads land in the CRM the moment they convert, so agents can call and book home visits while intent is still warm.
